HOLY SPIRIT SISTERS
Apostolic Life Community of Sisters in the Opus Spiritus Sancti is an International Missionary Community, founded in 1950 in Germany as an Eparchial Congregation by Most Rev. Fr. Bernhard Bendel. It is an Apostolic Life Community, which lives and works in the midst of the world. The mission and goal of the community is to serve the church in the spirit of the parable of the leaven, to penetrate and change the world so that it might become an Ester - Pentecost World.
In 1969, this community is established in Tiruvalla- the Regional House of the Holy Spirit Sisters in India. Today, the sisters are working in Syro-Malankara, Syro-Malabar and Latin dioceses in India, Europe, USA and Philippines.
In 1994, they are invited to the Diocese of Bathery, by His Excellency Most Rev. Cyril Mar Baselios. From those days onwards sisters are engaged in different apostolates like: teaching, social work, catechetical and other missionary activities in different parishes. Their convent is at Poomala, near Bathery. It is also a formation house.
In 1999 and in 2006 they extended their mission to Bhadravathi in Karnataka State and Enanthi, Nilambur in Malappuram District respectively.
