DHYANA ASHRAM

Nambiarkunnu

Dhyana Ashram was founded by Rev. Fr. Silvester Kozhimannil, formerly a member of Kurisumala Ashram, on 15th May 1979 as an Eparchial Contemplative Monastery in the Diocese of Bathery. The Typicon (Constitution) was approved by the Congregation for the Oriental Churches, Rome, as 'sui juris' autonomous monastery on 4th October 2000. This is the only autonomous Ashram in India as an independent monastery under the Congregation for the Oriental Churches. The monks follow strict vegetarian diet, complete silence adapted to the way of Christian and Hindu Sanyasa. The community earns their living only from agricultural income.
