THAPOVANAM
Shelter of Hope

Thapovanam is a charitable institution of the Diocese of Bathery that provides comprehensive care for the underprivileged destitute and mentally challenged people. Thapovanam gives medical treatment, care and security for life to those women and men who are suffering for long period and cannot be easily taken care properly in their homes. Along with such patients this institution also takes and gives similar care to mentally sick people who are poor or roam the streets without anyone to care for them.

The people rescued often suffer from acute and chronic illnesses. Others are very old and weak while some are mentally and physically challenged. Most of these people are in their last stage of life.

All the residents are treated with care. Every effort is taken to make the life of the residents comfortable and memorable.
Some of them are violent and dangerous, especially when they are first rescued. They hurl at you, but patience brings them around. Misguided fortitude often makes them run back to the streets, as they are unable to come in terms with their own helplessness. It takes time to counsel them.
