BIBLE APOSTOLATE

One, who does not know Bible, does not know Christ, declares St. Jerome. No one denies that the Post Vatican era is marked by the Bible Research Studies that popularised the Word of God among the faithful. The double edged sword that pierces the hearts of the people started penetrating every walk of life of the commoners. In this process the Diocese of Bathery engaged itself in the ministry of teaching the Word of God among the people from all walks of life. This is facilitated through the department of Bible

Apostolate which started functioning in 1979 itself.

The Bible Apostolate aims both to make Bible reading as an integral part of everyday life and to help to explore the meaning of the Word of God in a larger cultural context and in depth.

To attain these, the following activities are being carried out.

• Make available the Bible in all our homes

• Guide everyone to live the Word of God

• Distribute literature on the Bible

• Train our catechism students to pray the Bible, reflect on the Word and sing out in joyful songs

• Conduct Bible Quizes

• Promote Logos Quiz and the Bible Kalolsavam conducted by the KCBC

• Prepare and distribute sermon notes for the priests

• Conduct Bible correspondance course

• Conduct Bible classes both in the parish and diocesan levels

• Conduct resource team trainings

• Form people to be teachers, ministers, and promoters of the Word of God
